Licensed Professional Counselor Specializing in Men's Mental Health, Anxiety, Depression, Attachment Trauma, and Addiction Recovery

Aaron Chapman, MS, LPC-S, compassionate professional counselor, adult therapist Austin Texas, male therapist Austin Texas

My name is Aaron Chapman, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Westlake, offering individual therapy for individuals navigating life's most complex and difficult moments. My passion for therapy is deeply rooted in my desire to help others. With over 20 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients through a broad range of emotional and psychological struggles.

My journey as a therapist began with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997, followed by a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2002.

Over the years, I’ve worked in diverse settings, including Austin Travis County MHMR, where I provided support for children and adolescents facing trauma and behavioral challenges, and a pain management clinic, where I helped individuals coping with chronic pain and its psychological impact.

Today, I specialize in treating mood and adjustment disorders—such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder—as well as addiction recovery and attachment trauma. Attachment trauma refers to emotional wounds that form in early relationships—often with caregivers—when our basic needs for safety, connection, or attunement weren’t consistently met. These experiences can shape unconscious beliefs about ourselves and others, such as “I’m not worthy of love” or “People will always leave.”

I take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on techniques from Coherence Therapy as well as solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, and psychodynamic therapies. I firmly believe that there is no "one-size-fits-all" in therapy, which is why I customize my approach to fit each client’s unique personality, values, and goals. Whether you're looking to understand past patterns, gain practical tools for managing the present, or shift unhelpful thought patterns, I am here to guide you through the process with empathy and expertise.

At the heart of my practice is a belief in your ability to heal. While life’s challenges can be overwhelming, the path to healing often starts with small, meaningful steps. I am here to help you uncover your inner strength and create lasting change in your life.

When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll find me spending time with my family, working in the yard, jogging, boating, or cheering on the Texas Longhorns.
